Flying early in the morning? Travel tips
If your flight departs early in the morning, the right choice is run A1-bis: departure from Milazzo Porto at 02:50 (03:05 from Casello), arriving at Catania Fontanarossa at 04:50. With check-in typically opening 2 hours before departure, this run is ideal for flights from 07:00 onwards.
The general rule is straightforward: take your flight time, subtract 2 hours for check-in and security, then subtract another 2 hours 15 minutes for the shuttle bus journey. Flying at 10:00? You need to be at the airport by 08:00, so take the 05:40 run from Milazzo Porto (A2, arriving 07:40).
What to bring to the pickup point: your boarding pass (on your phone is fine), a valid ID and your luggage within the limits above. If you have extra or heavy bags, declare them when booking — the driver can organise space accordingly and you avoid problems on the day.
Early starts are never enjoyable, but knowing the shuttle bus is already booked and the driver is waiting makes the whole thing considerably easier.
What is the difference between a shared shuttle bus and a private transfer
A question we hear often: "Is this a private hire car or a scheduled bus?" Neither. What Autonoleggio Di Paola operates is a shared shuttle bus with mandatory advance booking.
That means you share the vehicle with other passengers travelling the same route, but your seat is reserved and the departure is guaranteed. It does not stop at every corner: it follows a fixed route with a small number of planned stops.
Here is the practical difference:
- Shared shuttle bus: €25 per person, fixed timetable, reserved seat — ideal for solo travellers or couples with a flight during covered hours.
- Private transfer (NCC): vehicle dedicated exclusively to you or your group, full flexibility on timing, priced per vehicle (€60–120 on average for this route).
If you are travelling in a group of 4 or more, or your flight is at a time not covered by the shuttle, a private hire may work out better value. For everything else, the €25 shuttle bus is the right call.
If you need a dedicated vehicle, visit our private hire service page.
